Getting started on the SCD diet was maybe easier for me than some people, because I had not eaten any solid food for 9 weeks. The whole time on enteral, I fantasized about food, so when I was learning what I could eat on the intro diet, it all sounded great. Applesauce? Yum. Banana pancakes made only of bananas, eggs, and honey? Yum. Dry curd cottage cheese, whatever that is? Let me at it. If you are transitioning to the SCD from a normal diet, it's important to know that the intro diet only lasts a week at maximum. Just hammer away at those zucchini patties and diluted grape juice and hang in there. It is very important to adhere to the intro because it will familiarize your gut with the type of food it will be receiving from now on. The door to hundreds of other options will open soon.
